Just when it seemed as if the New York Knicks season could not get any worse…

Starting point guard Raymond Felton was arrested early this morning on three weapons charges, according to a New York Police Department spokesman. They are:

Second- and third-degree criminal possession of a firearm, which are felonies; and fourth-degree possession of a firearm, which is a misdemeanor.

The charges stem from Felton possessing an unregistered run and the 29-year old is expected in Manhattan criminal court later today.

Felton, in the midst of a terrible season, turned himself in just hours after the Knicks lost at the buzzer to the Dallas Mavericks.

He signed a three-year, $10 million contract in the offseason… and he chose the wrong city in which to get into gun trouble.

Just ask Plaxico Burress, a former Giants wide receiver who spent time in jail after accidentally shooting himself in the leg inside a NYC nightclub.
