Man, that Full House cast has had it rough. Jodie Sweetin got addicted to meth. Ashley Olsen developed an eating disorder. Candice Cameron Bure’ got Kirk-Cameroned.

Blake McIver, who played Michelle’s friend Derek Boyd on Full House and rich kid Waldo in The Little Rascals, went from down-on-his luck vocal coach to selfie-loving Go-Go dancer.

He makes a great Superman, don’t you think?

McIver, 28, isn’t at all ashamed of his profession. In fact, he says he’s “found it liberating and empowering.” After being bullied while attending a Christian high school, McIver’s self-esteem suffered.

“I had so much shame about my body,” he said. “I’m not hiding my body anymore.” (Please don’t hide it, Blake!)

McIver says that he nearly became a “gay teen suicide statistic” at age 14 but turned to music and his loved ones to keep himself going. Now, as an openly gay adult, he sees that there is a global responsibility to “protect the LGBT teens who are still physically and verbally assaulted and fear for their lives every day.”

You can find McIver on The People’s Couch or catch more of his ab-baring selfies on Instagram.
