That was basically the reaction of Gloria Loring to Miley Cyrus’ VMA routine with her son, Robin Thicke, which included the use of a foam finger in ways for which foam fingers were never intended.
“I don’t understand what Miley Cyrus is trying to do,” the former Days of Our Lives actress told Yahoo’s omg! INSIDER. “I think she’s misbegotten in this attempt of hers. And I think it was not beneficial.”
That is certainly true if Miley were going for positive reviews.
Brooke Shields says it came across as desperate. Kelly Clarkson made a reference to pitchy strippers at the event. The Parents Television Council has rebuked MTV for marketing such filth to 14-year olds.

“I didn’t get what her point was,” she said. “It was so over the top as to almost be a parody of itself.”
There has been talk, meanwhile, that Thicke was unhappy because Miley’s antics overshadowed his time on stage, but sources tell Us Weekly this is no true.
“He had fun and was fine with how it came out,” the insider says. “He knew what they were going to do and thought it was fun and awesome. He had a great time.
