According to Yahoo!, the patients were not properly prepared with medicine, money, and food, and no plans were made for retrieval by family or medical professionals at their destination.

A spokesman for the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services said that "Under common law in Nevada and California, the hospitals have a duty to exercise reasonable care to avoid foreseeable harm to patients with respect to the manner in which they are discharged."

He added that through the alleged patient dumping operating, " the Nevada hospital placed the patients at risk."
