Buckwild is being canceled by MTV, just months into its run.

The network is pulling the plug on the reality show that was rocked last week by the death of Shain Gandee, but was marred by controversy even before that.

Sources connected to the show say MTV decided to stop production in the middle of the second season, which is in the process of being filmed.

No specific reason for the cancelation was given.

Shain Gandee died of carbon monoxide poisoning in his Ford Bronco last week after his vehicle got trapped in mud the during an off-road excursion.

This tragedy was the final straw for the show, which follows the lives of young people in a rural West Virginia town, a la Jersey Shore but in Appalachia.

The arrests of two other cast members – Salwa Amin for drug possession and Michael Burford for DUI – made for more bad publicity for the show.

It’s unclear if any unaired episodes will see the light of day, but no more will be produced as of this time. An official statement is expected this morning.
