In the aftermath of Michelle Shocked’s rant at a San Francisco show, the singer has taken to Twitter to respond to those who turned against her.
Shocked stunned fans with an apparent anti-gay slur on stage.
“I’m abiding, letting everyone’s true colors show before I undertake a personal response to each & every tweet,” she tweeted in response to a fan.
“I’m not asking you to trust me, but have a little faith,” Shocked added. “You weren’t there, now doing your best to gather facts #shortsharpshocked.”
Michelle Shocked’s common refrain in her responses to fans on Twitter so far is that, “If you weren’t there, then don’t think you know what happened.”
As for her views on women and gay rights, she tweeted “Am neither against a woman’s right to choose nor gay marriage. Am a fundamentalist tho.”
That hasn’t been enough to mend fences, apparently.
Following the tirade, for which the singer has yet to truly explain or apologize, 10 out of 11 venues have dropped Shocked’s upcoming performances.
