Tracy Morgan is sorry.

The comedian came under fire today when word got out about a set in Nashville last Friday that included a mean-spirited diatribe against gay people. It was both insulting and not remotely funny.

“I want to apologize to my fans and the gay and lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville,” Morgan said, under pressure to retract his statements.

Added the 30 Rock star: “While I am an equal opportunity jokester, and my friends know what is in my heart, even in a comedy club this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context.”

Do you accept this apology?
