Angelina Jolie has come out in favor of Barack Obama in this year’s Presidential election.
The Changeling actress tells Vanity Fair that it’s the nominee’s positions on global issues, and not his skin color or background, that most appeals to her.
“Obama fights for international justice, he wants to militarily intervene in cases of genocide, and close Guantanamo Bay.” Jolie said in a recent interview. “These are the things that could move me to vote for him, not his roots.”
Jolie, who has adopted seemingly every child in need overseas, added that “an American president [with diverse roots] like Barack Obama would be nice for my family,” but that family background wasn’t a sufficient reason to pull a lever in the Democrat’s direction next month.
”That’s good, but it’s not a sufficient reason to vote for him,” Jolie said.
Do you care what Angelina Jolie has to say about the election? Or should celebrities stick to movie-making instead of political preaching?
