The awesome Carrie Underwood takes the cover of Entertainment Weekly this week, and it is a well-deserved honor. Not just because she’s adorable, either.

Her 2005 debut, Some Hearts, has become the most successful album from any American Idol contestant, selling nearly 6 million copies, outselling even Kelly Clarkson’s Breakaway. Here are some Carrie Underwood interview snippets:

On being “not country enough” for some fans of her genre: “On Top 40 stations, no one cares if have Fergie next to 50 Cent. They’re quite different. Why can’t you have me next to somebody that’s more traditional country?”

Carrie Underwood on whether she likes fame: “I love being able to perform and potentially make a difference in somebody’s day or somebody’s life. Sometimes things can get kind of scary. I was in Victoria’s Secret the other day, which I went to for the first time last year, ’cause, I don’t know, I have a weird thing about that… I have problems going into a store like that. I’m a private person, and I don’t want people knowing what kind of underwear I like. It’s creepy!

THG NOTE: One possible solution is simply to wear no underwear, a la Britney Spears, although that opens up the floodgates to upskirt pics.

On her romance with Tony Romo: “Point blank, he is about football. I don’t know if it’s that I’m not quite his type, but he’s not at the point in his life where he’d be willing to sacrifice football. He hated so much that people thought that he was paying more attention to me and that was causing him to not do well.”

THG NOTE: Let’s hope her new flame, actor Chace Crawford, is never accused of performing badly. We wouldn’t count on it. We love him on Gossip Girl!
