Russell Crowe is the best actor of our generation, according to many. We probably agree.

So, someone tweeted a naked photo on Russell Crowe's account.

Not of the actor. Of a woman's pubic region. Up close.

It was quickly deleted, after which Crowe wrote:

Eating Crowe

"Hey, I don't know what that was. Just having a chat with Dani [Danielle Spencer, his estranged wife] when the phone went ballistic. Sorry, gone."

Based on other Crowe tweets, the actor has been enjoying some downtime in Los Angeles while Man of Steel continues to rake in the big bucks.

Either Russell is still trying to figure out Twitter, or he got hacked. Regardless, most of his Tweets involve things like his gym schedule, and so on.

Aside from the occasional crotch shot, not a lot to see.

Russell Crowe may have ruined Les Miserables for some, but at least the actor isn't shying away from the criticism.

In light of Adam Lambart lambasting the cast vocals last week - Tweeting how the "score suffered massively with great actors PRETENDING to be singers" - the Oscar winner has now responded.

And you may be surprised by Crowe's retort.

Russell Crowe at Les Mis Premiere

After a follower sent him Lambert's critique, Crowe took to Twitter and... mostly agreed with the former American Idol finalist.

"I don't disagree with Adam, sure it could have been sweetened," Crowe wrote. "[Les Miserables director Tom] Hooper wanted it raw and real, that's how it is."

Fair enough, those also irritating enough according to many.

What did you think of Les Miserables? Grade it now:

Les Miserables is an impressive cinematic achievement that remains true to the iconic Broadway production, changing scarcely a storyline or a lyric and likely satisfying fans of the long-running musical.

There's just one minor problem: Russell Crowe absolutely cannot sing.

Russell Crowe as Javert

The Oscar winner portrays Inspector Javert in the film, an integral character who sets his sights on Hugh Jackman's fugitive, Jean Valjean.

But while Jackman has won Tony Awards and shined on stage, Crowe simply can't carry a tune.

Russell Crowe had to be bailed out by the U.S. Coast Guard over the weekend after a kayaking trip went wrong off the coast of New York's Long Island.

The star, who is in the area filming Darren Aronofsky's Noah, launched from Cold Spring Harbor Saturday afternoon, but got lost at sea as it grew dark.

Crowe and a friend managed to make their way to shore, beaching their kayaks in Huntington Bay, nearly 10 miles east from where they had set out.

The coast guard was patrolling the area and heard the 48-year-old calling out around 10 p.m. Crowe and his friend were brought to Huntington Harbor.

"It wasn't really a rescue," a Coast Guard spokesman said. "Really, more of just giving someone a lift." The men were wearing life vests and uninjured.

Crowe Tweeted at 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning, "Thanks to Seth and the boys from the US Coast Guard for guiding the way... 4 hrs 30 mins, 7m (11.2km)."

And he later expounded, writing, "We knew where exactly where we were, paddling around from csh into wind, we ran out of day. Grand adventure eh."

Russell Crowe is in the news for a reason other than his belief that circumcision goes against the will of God.

The Oscar-winning actor is in negotiations to play a key role in Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman reboot: Jor-El, the biological father of this caped hero.

Crowe, Oscar

Henry Cavill has already signed on to portray Superman, while Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane and Michael Shannon will also come on board the franchise.

Production on Superman: Man of Steel gets underway next month, as Jor-El is the last major role to be cast. Sean Penn and Clive Owen are also under consideration, insiders say, but it is Crowe's part if he wants it.

Think Crowe is the right fit?

Celebrities are all up in God's business these days.

First, Gwyneth Paltrow wondered if the bible truly preached intolerance against homosexuals.

Now, Russell Crowe is speaking up for the Big Guy Himself and asking about circumcision: What the heck, people?!?

“Circumcision is barbaric and stupid," the Oscar winner Tweeted yesterday. "Who are you to correct nature? Is it real that GOD requires a donation of foreskin? Babies are perfect. I will always stand for the perfection of babies, i will always believe in God, not man’s interpretation of what God requires."

He's thrown phones at people in fits of rage, and he once helped Martha Stewart murder a chicken.

But Russell Crowe is also one of the best actors of his generation, an Oscar winner and a multiple-time Best Actor nominee.

The native Australian was honored for those achievements yesterday, earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He posed at the event (below) with his family, wife Danielle and sons Charles and Tennyson, ages 6 and 3, respectively.

Perpetual Honor

As for his next project, Crowe will star as Robin Hood. The film opens on May 14, but he must apologize to all female fans: the handsome actor won't be donning any tights.

"They weren't invented until quite a few hundred years after when the story takes place," he said. "We start our story in 1199. Tights don't come into play until the 1600s. I do apologize to those who will be disappointed that there are no tights."
