This week has already seen some celebrity baby news, with Kara DioGuardi having a son yesterday.

Visually, Angelina Jolie and Penelope Cruz are just about peerless.

While husband Brad Pitt was the one in the spotlight, Jolie rocked the Oscars red carpet as always in a fearlessly thigh-high cut Versace velvet dress that turned heads.

Cruz, meanwhile, opted for periwinkle in Armani Prive, adding a classic Grace Kelly-like polish to her ensemble with diamond jewels and shiny 1950s-inspired curls.

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem have welcomed their first baby. It's unclear what the name and gender are, but he/she is going to have some great genes!

According to Spanish newspaper El Pais, the infant was born to the famously private couple, who got married last summer, at Cedars Sinai Hospital in L.A.

Cruz debuted her baby bump while shooting Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides in Puerto Rico last September. Congratulations to the couple!

Captain Jack is (almost) back.

On May 20, Johnny Depp will reprise the role that truly made him an icon, as he steps back into the swashbuckling shoes of Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. We've got an early look at a scene from the movie here:

The fourth installment of this franchise will find Jack and Barbossa seeking the Fountain of Youth.  Along the way, Depp's beloved character will meet a former flame, as seen above and played by Penelope Cruz.

"What's most interesting about Pirates 4 is you don't have to connect the dots for these subplots and sub-characters," Depp told USA Today. "It felt like a fresh, clean slate."

The extremely private Javier Bardem has confirmed that Penelope Cruz is pregnant and the most beautiful celebrity baby ever is due early next year.

The future father was brief and to the point: "It is true," Javier Bardem said of his beautiful wife's pregnancy in an interview. "I am very happy."

But, adhering to the recently married couple's tradition of keeping mum about private matters, he added: "Don't make me say anything else."

Not that this request prevented journalists at a press conference in Rome for the leading man's movie with Julia Roberts, Eat, Pray, Love, from pressing on.

Has a name been chosen for the recently-married couple's impending arrival, asked a reporter for a national Italian newspaper. "No, not yet," Bardem said.

The key to managing family and career? "It is a little too soon for me to be giving any advice," said the actor. "I don't know yet. But I will find out soon."

Finally, when asked what it's like to be a sex symbol, he replied modestly, "Sex symbol, me? You've got to be kidding." We think not, Javier. We think not.

Cruz's rep confirmed that the Oscar-winning actors, who have collaborated on screen, made their personal collaboration official by tying the knot in the Bahamas earlier this month. The pair got hitched in front of family members in a small ceremony.

The Spanish stars first met in 1992 during the filming of Jamón, Jamón, then joining forces again just two years ago in Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Penelope Cruz scored a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in the 2008 Woody Allen film, playing Bardem's needy, disturbed ex-wife.

But they are engaged, a source tells Us Weekly!

"They tried to keep it very private and quiet," the source says of the couple, who met while filming Jamon, Jamon in 1992, and began dating in 2007.

A rep for Penelope Cruz had no comment, but the New York Daily News, which first reported the story, said Cruz wanted to wed Javier Bardem to appease her Catholic parents, given the persistent rumors that she's pregnant.

She recently denied she is pregnant with Bardem's child, however.

Cruz once said, not so very long ago, that she wasn't sure she wanted to marry at any point: "I don't know if I believe in marriage," she said in an interview with Psychology Today. "I believe in family, love and children."

"When I [have children], I want to do it well. I want it to be my best project in life."
