Saying it’s been a rough year for the Giudice family would be putting it very mildly.

Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice was released from prison back in December after serving 11 months for bankruptcy fraud.

Her husband, Joe Giudice, is currently behind bars serving a 41 month bid for similar charges.

Now, it looks as though the Giudices are in for another round of legal wrangling, as the case that earned both of them prison sentences has officially been re-opened.

The couple filed for bankruptcy in 2009, but their request was thrown out of court in 2011.

When it was re-opened in 2013, the Giudices were charged with 39 counts of fraud for attempting to mislead the court and fleece their creditors.

New Jersey Judge Stacey L. Meisel has now re-opened the case yet again, but it’s unclear what that might mean for Joe and Teresa.

It seems that despite the publication of Teresa’s memoirs and her return to work as a member of the RHONJ cast, several major debts have yet to be repaid.

If the judge determines that the Giudices were able to pay these debts back in a timely fashion but chose not to do so, it could mean more legal trouble for Teresa.

Earlier today, her bankruptcy lawyer, Carlos Cuevas, issued the following statement:

“Ms. Giudice is now in discussions with her bankruptcy trustee to try to reach a settlement concerning the ownership of the claims underlying the Kridel lawsuit.”

In all likelihood, Teresa will not go back to prison, but it certainly seems like she hasn’t quite learned her lesson.
