Gay-Bashing Knicks Fan Video Released: Who Are These Men?

by at . Comments

Police have labeled the beating of Nick Porto and Kevin Atkins a hate crime after the gay couple suffered serious injuries at the hands of Knicks fans near Madison Square Garden on Sunday night.

The incident took place after the Knicks lost to the Pacers in the second round of the NBA Playoffs.

Explained Porto on Facebook:

"A group of Knicks fans were upset about the game and they just decided to ‘fag bash’ the two of us. They called us f----ts. They made fun of my jeans - I made the jeans myself, for that day...

"Fists started flying. I was on the ground, and the only thing I could do, I reached out and grabbed someone's hair."

Porto broke his nose in the attack and Atkins his wrist.

In response to this crime, police have released video of the men they believe were responsible, taken soon after they allegedly beat up the couple.

They are asking the public for help in identifying any of the eight individuals.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and then enter TIP577.

Just a week ago, Jason Collins came out as the first gay male still participating in professional team sports.
