Josie Duggar (Baby #19): Hospitalized Again!

by at . Comments

As Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar plan to welcome their 20th child next year, their recent trip to Israel brought more medical duress for their 19th, Josie-Brooklyn.

Next week's season finale episode of the soon-to-be-renamed 19 Kids and Counting shows Josie rushed to the hospital during the family vacation, in dire straits.

She was “congested” says Jim Bob, as Josie cried in the hospital.

As the little girl struggles, the rest of the family must decide if they’re going to continue their trip around the country they traveled so far to visit as a group.

At the same time, there was no debate over whether having a 20th baby was a smart decision. She admits it's not for everyone, but Michelle never wavered.

The stress of their “littlest little,” who was born prematurely and has endured myriad health woes in the last year and a half, being sick hasn’t stopped the Arkansas family from expanding, as we know, given their impending arrival.

What do you think? Is 20 kids too much?

Hey Michelle, Your body is giving up. Only cause you can fall pregnant does not mean you need to try to get pregnant.

I love the Duggar Family. I a non practicing catholic but I have been inspired by the way Michelle and Jim Bob raise their children. Their children are testament to the type of people they are, selfless, hardworking, gentle, disciplined and considerate and non-judgemental, unlike some of the previous commentators. Their children are blessed to be born into a loving large family, something that many children in this world do not have the privilege of. Carry on the good work Michelle and Jim Bob. I especially admire Michelle, she has been so inspirational and watching her has definitely made me rethink my role as a mother.

Basically, it is NONE OF OUR BUSINESS! It is their life and if they want to have 30 kids, and can support them, then so be it! Leave them alone and let them live their life as they see fit!!

I don't agree with these people and think they are insane and selfish for what they are doing and I don't think this is of GOD and is turning into a cult-like thinking. When is enough enough. I don't think the other children are happy because they are caught into a mess that their parent's created. They cannot give them a good quality of life, which every child should be entitled to; and also to have a childhood free from growing up too fast and think they should do the same. I had four kids and it was hard on me; and now I am divorced and totally devasted. I had the last one in my forties and it was a risk pregnancy and then he was taken at birth, raised by another family and could care less about me, and this has left me with mental problems and totally tired out. It wasn't worth it for me and when I see this; this is totally insane.

To the person who wrote about how happy the Duggar children are, are you aware that the Duggars follow Bill Gothard's cult-like teachings? One of the bizarre things he says is that being "sweet" at all times and having "bright eyes" is evidence that you are living a "godly" life. Even if these children are unhappy, they are trained from a very young age, probably with corporal punishment, that expressing unhappiness is a sin. The Duggars also promote Michael and Debi Pearl's books, which also teach that anything less than a cheerful attitude is grounds for punishment.

Im glad we could come to an agreement of somewhat.

Hi Courtney, My apologies if I offended you and came across on the internet as misunderstanding your point.
Yes, we definitely agree concerning the health issues here, concerning both Josie and Michelle.
Whether the Duggar children are truly happy is more a matter of perception and as neither you or I live in the household, we can't really know.

Mary, I know what your previous post said, the reason I said that is because you keep saying it and bringing up almost AS IF I said that I did agree with it. @Sue, thank you, your post was almost dead on, except the having another child part..yes it is her life and she should always have the choice of wether she wants more kids or not, but joise was on the verge of death because she had to many children and her body couldn't handle it. Having another child is just asking for much more serioud health problems. It is selfish, I will admit that Mary. It is selfish to make another child suffer through pain and possibly have all of her kids suffer without a mother all because she just absolutely must have more kids. She has enough. She should just be happy with the kids she has instead of making another child suffer because of her wants.

Courtney, If you review my previous posts you will find the one thing I have pointed out is our agreement that the Duggars showed appalling lack of judgement and a complete disregard for Josie's special needs in taking Josie on this trip.
To think they risk having another preemie like Josie when they so completely disregard the needs of Josie.
Well, I suppose Josie can just be dumped on an older sibling to be cared for. Oh wait, she already is.

I don't think that the family should have gone on this big trip. There are some things that must be sacrificed when you have a large family for the health and sake of the family and one of those things are trips like this. Josie is not like a typical toddler because she was a preemie. I'm all for the Duggars having another child if they desire and I don't think it's so bad that the siblings do a lot around the house; they are a family unit. But I do think it was unwise to take a trip like this. They may be a quiverful family, but they don't live like a quiverful family does. Their lifestyle supported by their television show is not humble or modest.

Duggar Family Quotes

And so be available, and not just available, but be joyfully available for him. Smile and be willing to say, 'Yes, sweetie I am here for you,' NO MATTER WHAT, even though you may be exhausted and big and pregnant and you may not feel like he feels. 'I'm still here for you and I'm going to meet that need because I know it's a need for you.' - Michelle

Anyone can fix him lunch, but only one person can meet that physical need of love that he has, and you always need to be available when he calls. - Michelle Duggar on saying yes (yes, and more yes) to sex
