Rick Springfield to Arresting Officers: I'll KILL You!

by at . Comments

Rick Springfield threatened to kill a deputy sheriff and his family the night he was arrested for DUI, yet there was no mention of the incident in the arrest report.

Springfield was arrested in Malibu May 1 and blew a .10, above the legal limit. The deputy said his $200,000, 1963 Corvette Stingray would be towed away.

The singer/actor was not pleased.

Law enforcement sources say upon hearing that news, Springfield yelled to the deputy, "If you tow my car I will f*%king kill you and your family."

He must not have taken it seriously, because there was no mention of the threat in the report. which merely says that Rick Springfield was "belligerent."

LA County Sheriff's Dept. spokesman Steve Whitmore says. "It is rare when a drunk doesn't say something outlandish to police when they're arrested."

"I have no idea what went down with this one, I wasn't there, but drunks are notorious for saying stupid, outlandish things to law enforcement members all the time. Law enforcement's job is to get them off the streets, because they're drunk."

The D.A. is currently deciding whether to charge Springfield with DUI.

As for Springfield, his rep gave a statement to TMZ: "Someone has leaked information illegally. It's a sad reflection on society today that people in law enforcement who we look up to, pander to the celebrity gossip channels."

Life isn't always easy for those with depression. I should know, I've had it for 20 years. Prozac and Cipralex...fun wow! Don't judge until you've been there yourself. You can't judge a man 'til you walk a mile in his shoes. Read Late, Late At Night-I can relate, maybe you'd get a better understanding...have some compassion...he's a music genius

I have some questions. Why does TMZ seem to have it in for Rick Springfield? Why is it that what was reported as a fairly simple DUI incident, now all of the sudden turned into a report that Rick threatened the arresting officer and his family? I've been a long time fan of his and have met him several times over the last thirty years. There have even been occasions where alcohol was being served, but Rick was mainly funny as hell and kind of silly, lik a big kid. I can see him being embarrassed and upset about the incident and about his Corvette being towed (have you ever seen how badly tow truck drivers treat the cars they tow?), but I have serious doubts that he would threaten to harm a police officer or his family. I think we need to hear Rick's side of the story, because this just doesn't sound right to me.

I find it interesting that the story about Rick Springfield's arrest seems to have changed. The other day ALL the news services were quoting the police as saying that he was arrested without incident and deeply embarrassed, and now he's "belligerent" and allegedly threatening the officer? And there is NO MENTION OF THIS in the original police report? I find it pretty difficult to believe that ANY individual who threatens an officer is not immediately arrested and held...unless of course the story isn't true. Then again, the story did originate with TMZ, so that may just solve THAT little mystery.

So the response is, "Yeah, I said it, but you aren't supposed to know!" Doesn't sound apologetic. Sounds like a brat.
