On 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? Season 7, Episode 6, things took quite a turn.
Angela’s plan to catch Michael off guard with a secret trip to Nigeria turned into an act of screaming vandalism.
Bilal and Shaeeda are of different minds about when to have a child. Will a visit to a specialist help?
Big Ed and Liz hang out with Liz’s grandparents, who seem as resigned to this engagement as the rest of us.
While Libby and Andrei skip out, Becky, Jenn, and Charlie celebrate Pamela’s birthday. It’s awkward.
It’s time for Yara’s green card interview, but she and Jovi have different ideas about what to do next.
Finally, Kimberly has to earn some “birthday yammy” from Usman by being on her best behavior. If she isn’t, he can’t introduce her to his family and this whole thing ends now.
Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi

We see Michael in Lagos, Nigeria. He is hanging out with friends and reentering a pool for the first time. In the United States, centuries of systemic racism — slavery, segregation, and more — kept many within the Black community from learning to swim. For Michael, his difficulties stem from personal trauma. In this twenties, he nearly drowned. Now, getting back into the water is a huge step. But not the scariest thing that will happen to him this season. Because no matter how bad his pool experiences have been, Angela is always worse.
Gross!

Michael actually defends his wife and marriage when his friends poke fun at it. Angela is a grandmother, and his friends cannot help but highlight the age gap. Despite appearances, Angela is only a little over 20 years Michael’s senior, but it’s still a lot.
Michael’s friends do not like Angela

She has serious control issues. Meanwhile, Angela does not like them, either. She has previously thrown her ice-filled drink at them. They have seen her nightmarish temper first-hand and clearly do not understand why Michael is married to her.
Michael explains their current conflict

He is on Instagram, dreaming of becoming a paid influencer. Right now, he is getting an audience … which is how he explains to the camera why he is not yet making money. He feels hurt that Angela believes that he is using this Instagram account to cheat on her, but he won’t take it down. Angela told him that she doesn’t want him to get a job — because she doesn’t trust him — and to just wait for the visa, but she is not sending him money as promised.
Little does he know …

Angela, with the support of her friend Rene, has just arrived in Nigeria. He does not know that she is there. In fact, he has no idea that she was coming. That is the whole point. She wants to ambush him. Two years apart have pushed Angela’s toxic and controlling nature to the limit, and the idea that he is not living his life exactly according to her demands has her blood boiling.
Angela has not changed

She and Rene immediately begin smoking in a bathroom. This feral behavior is what we have come to expect from the longtime franchise villain, but it is also how she first bonded with Rene. No thought for other people, just selfish impulse — which defines many of Angela’s other behaviors.
Angela does have some positive memories

This is her sixth trip to Nigeria. She tells Rene about some positive experiences that she recalls from her time here with Michael. For the briefest of moments, we see a soft side of Angela — who she could have been if she had chosen to be a better person.
Disaster

Angela summons production to her room for an apparent emergency. She is fuming and raging and lamenting what she sees as unfair treatment. What is the crisis?
Michael said “no” to her

Not knowing that she is a very short distance from her home, Michael declined Angela’s latest demand that he delete his Instagram account. This alone has Angela determined to act out. Showing premeditation, she brings her marriage certificate with her to go see him — so that she can prove, she hopes, that she has a legal right to destroy or take any of his property.
“The s–t this f–ker puts me through”

Smoking in the car, Angela rants to Rene about how she feels about Michael. Rene acknowledges to the camera that there is “no reeling in” Angela, who calls Michael and loudly demands that he remain awake. She does not tell him where she is or what is happening, but warns him that he is about to receive the shock of his life. Though Angela sounds intoxicated, there is no indication that she is drinking or currently using any drug save nicotine. Unfortunately, this seems to be Angela’s natural state.
They arrive

Angela steps over the door to Michael’s patio and immediately begins knocking, then yelling, for his attention. We don’t know the layout of his home exactly, but not everyone would hear a knock if they are in their bedrooms. And while we cannot speak for Nigerian culture, in America, people of Michael’s generation and younger would expect a text message — not a knock or a doorbell ring — from a guest.
No response

Unfortunately, Angela is undeterred. I once saw a documentary about a South African family who had adopted a baby hippo that was no longer a baby. When she wanted something, she would destroy things in the yard (often ripping down clothing from a clothesline) until she had attention. That is the vibe that Angela is giving here.
So … what exactly is the big deal?

One almost imagines that a producer blurted out a question about why Michael’s “no” has her flying off the handle like this. Angela yells and cries into the camera, expressing how she feels mistreated by Michael. It’s really unclear. The truth seems to be that she cannot control his every action, and this infuriates her.
Maybe this will get his attention

Angela yells into the house, threatening to tow Michael’s car — since she has asserted that she paid for it and that it is legally her property through their marriage. It is unclear if he can actually hear her, but it seems likely that a lot of people can.
Yoink

Instead of towing the vehicle, Angela begins to attempt to dismantle the car with her bare hands while Rene takes charge of yelling into the house. She warns Michael that Angela is destroying his car. We’re not sure what she is ripping off of it at the moment, but she’s only beginning.
Angela threatens to break the car’s windows next

This is clearly escalating. And, judging by the previews, is going to get even more explosive on next week’s episode — when we see Michael’s reaction to this attack by his wife.
Bilal Hazziez and Shaeeda Sween

Shaeeda calls up her friend to discuss the state of her marriage. She doesn’t delve into a number of other things, and puts her focus primarily on the current conflict. She wants to start on a baby now. Bilal is reluctant, and wants to wait until the last minute. Shaeeda is 37, and knows that time may be running out.
Eutris warns that later may be too late

She recalls a friend of hers whose partner delayed and delayed, stringing her along until he finally ghosted her. Shaeeda does not believe that Bilal is stringing her along and secretly has no desire to have another child, since he has not given her a firm “no,” but … it is a worry at the back of her mind.
They visit a specialist

The doctor acknowledges that Shaeeda, at 37, would be on the older side when it comes to pregnancy. He also emphasizes that she’s still young enough that she and Bilal could try for a pregnancy, so he’d want them to attempt to conceive for about six months before they looked to any more drastic steps.
Have they been trying?

Not at all, Shaeeda reports. Bilal is not interested in trying to conceive a child just yet. He tries to play off his reluctance as concern about Shaeeda getting postpartum depression and a desire for them to spend time as a married couple first.
There is a hitch

Shaeeda has a very regular menstrual cycle, and has her period every 21 days. This, her doctor warns, could be an issue, and he would like to run some tests. Basically, if she has less time to ovulate, she’ll have fewer chances to conceive.
Bilal’s takeaway?

He declares that it sounds like the doctor is telling them to hold off on having a kid for a couple of years. That is absolutely not what he said, save for when he says that the couple should be in agreement about having a kid before they go through with it. So … nothing has changed at all. It will be interesting to hear what the test results are.
Ed Brown and Liz Woods

Liz and Big Ed are on their way to meet up with Liz’s grandparents. They raised her and she views them as her parents. She does not normally introduce men to them — even men from serious relationships — so this is a big deal. Ed has met them once before, it sounds like.
Like the rest of us, Liz’s grandparents do know what Ed is like

Ed dumped Liz eight times via text message. When they’re together, he is insecure and toxic and controlling and weirdly body-shamey. It’s not clear if they know all of the details, but they know that he has put Liz through so much.
They meet up

It’s an amicable meet-up on the pier. Liz’s grandfather cracks a couple of height jokes about Ed. Ed makes a weird sex joke about Liz. One wonders if Ed was retaliating or if he just likes making people uncomfortable. There’s a third explanation, that he is manipulative and wants people to pity him for “messing up,” which would fit his pattern of behavior.
How do Liz’s family really feel?

Well, they seem at peace with Liz making this mistake. They have had their own ups and downs, and fully expect that Liz and Ed will do the same. Honestly, these two do not make for good television because they are calm and reasonable and know how to worry about Liz while respecting her choices. Great people, by all accounts, but not fodder for reality television.
But Lavina has a question

Is Ed marrying Liz because he truly loves her, or is he marrying her because she — like all of the other super-young women we’ve seen him with — makes him feel young? Ed promises that it is because he loves her.
Liz appreciates the support

She knows that her grandparents respect her enough to be there for her in this relationship, even if Ed is not who they would have chosen for her. She knows that Ed is not receiving the same support from his side.
Later, Liz gets alone time with her grandparents

She admits to the camera that Ed’s insecurities give him a tendency to dominate conversations. We have all watched him do this, by any means necessary. This way, she gets a turn to speak to her own family.
Liz has real fears about the future

First, she worries that time and their age differences will “take” Ed from her. Second, Liz admits that if she and Ed take another break — as Ed does when he feels frustrated — she will not get back with him, because she wants to be a good example for her daughter. We believe that she means it, but we’ll believe that she’ll follow through when we see it. Eight reconciliations is a lot already.
Elizabeth Potthast and Andrei Castravet

Libby and Andrei and Ellie are at the aquarium, petting stingrays and looking at manatees. Andrei’s father is with them, and has never seen some of these creatures. Moldova is landlocked, after all. The family outing is also a reminder that they are abstaining from Libby’s homophobic mom, Pamela’s, 60th birthday party because Charlie will be there.
Meanwhile …

Pamela and her husband are there with Jenn and with Becky and her own husband. Say what we will about Pamela’s moral failings, but she’s wearing a great blouse.
Charlie arrives

This is his and Megan’s first time at a family gathering with any of his siblings since he attacked Andrei at Chuck’s BBQ.
At first, things are almost normal

Though Becky is visibly anxious about his presence there, she hugs him. They all affirm to him that he is their brother and they love him. This has never been about not loving him, but about concern for his behavior.
Charlie doesn’t think that he did anything wrong

In his eyes, it’s not just that his family is overreacting to his drunken brawl. He acts like it’s some mystery why his siblings want him to get help, or why they have been avoiding him.
Seriously???

Becky (who is wearing such a fantastic outfit for this, by the way) asks Charlie if he really truly believes that alcohol has not played a role in his bad behavior. He claims that there’s always drinking at family events, but most of them don’t end up like that BBQ. Totally missing several points.
He blames Andrei and only Andrei

Charlie portrays his brother-in-law as a master manipulator who has turned the entire family against him. His sisters do seem to agree that Andrei was also at fault for the BBQ brawl, but don’t see Charlie as blameless. Because he isn’t.
Charlie is both angry and stubborn

His sisters can clearly tell that, especially with Pamela enabling him with distorted recaps of other gatherings, Charlie isn’t going to budge.
So Becky changes tactics

She agrees with Charlie that Andrei is a manipulator. Then she warns him that Andrei “smells blood in the water” with Chuck, their father, and that he’s using Charlie’s bad behavior to do more. Becky fears that she won’t be able to see her own sister one day because of Andrei, so she wants Charlie to clean up his act. Smart.
Jovi Dufren and Yara Zaya

This fan-favorite couple is en route to her green card interview. COVID-19 has delayed this meeting for some time, but they’re both nervous. Jovi couldn’t find their marriage certificate, and there is anxiety that this could sabotage things.
Hooray!

Yara received approval for her green card. In fact, because the timing came just over two years after her wedding (March 2022), she received a 10-year green card instead of the 2-year version. Nice!
What’s next?

Yara wants to go to Prague as soon as it arrives in the mail. There, she will meet up with her mother. She is so worried about family still in war-torn Ukraine. Remember, this was in early March of 2022. Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invaders were reporting unspeakable cruelty. We all saw the videos of tanks rolling over civilians, of piles of bodies of women and children. Yara is struggling to think of anything else. But Jovi would feel safer if he went with her and Mylah. He’ll be away for work when the card arrives, so he would like for her to wait a few days for him to return.
Yara and Jovi meet up with Yara’s squad

There, friends like Adele and Cymphony are solidly Team Yara. That is normally a good thing. In this instance, they think that she should go when she gets her card, and chalk up Jovi’s desire for her to wait for him to control and insecurity on his part.
Jovi gets to talk to the ladies alone

He is very direct and honest with them. He feels like they have exerted an influence over Yara, including pressuring her to get a boob job, though they say that they did not tell her to do that. Meanwhile, Yara’s friends (Adele seems to be the spokeswoman, basically) note that wanting to protect Yara is a good thing, but Jovi feels controlling so they don’t trust his intentions.
Yara is in the middle

She hopes that Jovi understands that her friends cannot “make” her want to do something any more than he can. She’s unsure about the Prague trip without him, but she wants him to know that it will be her decision.
Kimberly Menzies and Usman Umar

These two have hit (another) rough patch after an ugly argument over his plans for a second wife. Usman worries that if Kimberly cannot behave herself better, he cannot introduce her to his family.
Birthday party time!

Kimberly promises to be the life of the party, but also admits to feeling a little out of her element. That is fair.
About the friend who saw her milkshake meltdown

He admits to her that he felt frightened after watching her go off on Usman. Kimberly assures him that she is not normally like that, and stresses that she is struggling with some unfamiliar cultural concepts. Sure.
Then, a woman arrives

Ali is a friend of Usman’s. She is young and she is also extremely beautiful.
Kimberly sits by Ali

In an inspiring twist, she makes friends with Ali, asking her to simply look out for Usman. Is this a transparent manipulative tactic? Absolutely. But it was nice to see a more mature and thoughtful side of Kimberly. Ali, meanwhile, tells the camera that Kimberly is very nice, but that she expects that people think that something is up when they see her with Usman.
Clothing shopping!

Kimberly and Usman go to pick out culturally appropriate clothes, because his mother is very traditional. While a white person cosplaying as another culture can often be insulting when the culture in question is a minority (like in America), there are situations when it is seen as more respectful to dress in a particular type of clothing. The best way to know is to ask.
She ends up compromising

Kimberly will wear some traditional clothing, but she is very uncomfortable with some of the suggestions. That sounds fair.
Apparently, Kimberly passed

After her good behavior at the party and then while shopping for clothes, Kimberly apparently nearly got jackhammered into the neighboring hotel room. Good for her?
But now, they need to talk

Kimberly has a list of questions that she has written down (on a physical sheet of paper, no less) to ask about his plans for Wife #2. Everything goes well until suddenly, Usman suggests that she might also be an American.
That was not part of the agreement

From the start, Kimberly told him that she was okay with Wife #2. Maybe that was wishful thinking, maybe it wasn’t. But she made it clear that the other woman being an American would hit too close to home. Now, Usman is saying that if she’s a fertile woman of Hausa descent and gains his family’s approval, why not have kids with a second American? Kimberly has thrown some tantrums on this show, but Usman is the one sounding more heated here.
Oh, ew

Usman then shoots down her demands by asking why she thinks that she can give him ultimatums, since he believes that he is the one making the greater sacrifices for this relationship. According to Usman, women all over the world want his yammy, but he’s only giving it to Kimberly. Yes … that is how closed relationships work.
Kimberly is having a hard time

She doesn’t feel like they have “equal love” between them and wonders if this relationship can even work. Meanwhile, Usman complains that Kimberly is too jealous — and frames this as something that his mother will not accept.
