My first thought: Sign me up for the celebrity doctor, the one with the magic cure who is going to make it all right for me. But this whole strange hierarchy that we???ve built up in our society, the one in which the rich and famous get something more, really doesn???t exist. Not when it comes to health. You might get a nicer room, because money can buy that. But you can???t buy a cure.
Some people don???t like me saying this, but I consider my cancer diagnosis a gift, the most amazing gift I???ve ever received. I can never go back to who I was, that Midwestern girl???just be nice; if people are mean, take it; don???t speak up; work hard; makes lots of money; die. My cancer and everything I went through surrounding it keeps me in the light, in the spirit.
