“People at ABC News control their own destiny,” says Robert Iger on why ABC passed on securing a deal with CNN to outsource the network’s news gathering, while CBS might jump at the opportunity.
Rather than move forward with a plan CNN wanted – that would’ve had the Time Warner outfit substitute for nearly all of ABC News’ operations – Iger was interested in a “true joint venture.” You know, one where Barbara Walters could continue pontificating with celebrities without any overshadowing from Anderson Cooper and his ilk.
Now that the writers strike is coming to a close – though it’s not a done deal yet – and you know what to set your TiVo for and when, and what the industry will look like for the next few weeks, it’s time to answer the question on everybody’s mind: WHO WON THIS MOTHER F-ER?
