Operation Myspace starts today in Kuwait, with Jessica Simpson performing live for the troops. The big question is – who is paying for this extravaganza? Many people are questioning the benefits and costs of the concert.
Some of the details that have tongues waging have to do with a private plane being chartered for $150,000. The plane will also be transporting not only Simpson but her father Joe Simpson, hairstylist Ken Paves (who by the way charges $10,000 a day), wardrobe stylist and her personal assistant.
Sleeping accommodations will not be in a tent and if the singer does get in a tent it will be for a photo op only. Sources say that Jess will need to get good sleep before her performance.
“This isn’t a charity show. The people around Jessica aren’t donating their time or cutting their rates as if this was Jess’s charity Operation Smile. Someone is picking up the tab, and it’s not going to be Jessica.”
When the concert is over Simpson will spend about an additional 3 hours in Kuwait and then will jump back on her jet and fly home.
I am wondering why there is all this controversy over Jessica singing for the troops? I would have to imagine that the troops will be thrilled by the concert and any sort of distraction, for any amount of time would be much deserved.
