While watching the Oscars last night, did you get the feeling that maybe something or someone was missing? During the annual tribute to the stars we’ve lost over the past year, someone definitely seemed to be missing. Let’s be honest, the tribute is always a weird moment anyway, certain dead stars get applauded more than others and that’s just uncomfortable, but how on earth did they forget one of Charlie’s Angels?
Farrah Fawcett was very noticeably missing from the tribute, and many people are not happy about it. Roger Ebert took to his Twitter page to express his frustration stating, “No Farrah Fawcett in the memorial tribute? Major Fail.”
Michael Jackson, who died the same day as Farrah and easily overshadowed her death, was in the tribute and as much as we love MJ, he was never a movie star – just a musical genius.
So how was Farrah Fawcett forgotten? She wasn’t. Unfortunately there are more deaths than spots in the tribute. Producer Kathy Connell expressed, “It’s a killer because we have hundreds of members that pass each year and we can’t get them all in.”
It’s sad and seems to say, this celebrity death was more important than that celebrity death. Farrah wasn’t the only one who didn’t make the cut- also missing from the tribute was Golden Girl Bea Arthur.
