It didn’t take Sarah Palin long to get out a statement regarding the engagement shocker that hit the Internet this morning. A statement was read on the Today Show less than two hours after the story broke…and as expected, it was short, politically correct and without condemnation. ‘Atta Girl Sarah!
“Bristol at 19 is now a young adult. We obviously want what’s best for our children. Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives.”
If you were expecting a warm and fuzzy welcome to be extended to future son-in-law Levi Johnston, it certainly wasn’t forthcoming in the terse three sentence response. In fact…is it just us or did the room suddenly get very chilly with what she didn’t say?
Who can blame Alaska’s former governor and VP candidate? The kid made life miserable for the family on any number of occasions, dropping tidbits claiming that Sarah frequently referred to her Down syndrome son Trig as “retarded”. He also claimed to have insider knowledge that the Palin marriage was a sham. Perhaps his most profound sound bite suggested that Sarah is not temperamentally suited to be Vice President or President. Ouch!
Sarah got in a few salvos of her own. During an interview with Oprah, she referred to her daughter’s baby daddy as “Ricky Hollywood”, and referred to him an “aspiring porn star”.
