Natina Reed died Friday after being struck by a car while crossing a state highway near Atlanta, Georgia, one day shy of her 33rd birthday.

According to police, the accident occurred at 10:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 29. Reed was pronounced dead upon arrival at Gwinnett Medical Center. Authorities indicate the driver was not at fault and there are no charges pending.

The entertainer gained fame in the 90’s as a member of the Atlanta R & B girl group Blaque. Their hits included ‘808,’ ‘Can’t Get It Back,’ and ‘Bring It All To Me’ featuring ‘N Sync singer J.C. Chasez.

In 2000 she starred with Blaque bandmates Brandi Williams and Shamari Fears-DeVoe as high school cheerleaders in the teen comedy film ‘Bring It On.’

She was remembered by her son’s father, Tha Dogg Pound rapper Kurupt. He said, “Myself and Tren, Natina’s son, would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this tragic time. This is a tremendous loss to our family. Natina was a great person and I wish everyone had the opportunity to meet her and know her as I did.”

Reed’s fellow bandmates released this joint statement: “We are devastated by the loss of our group member, sister and friend Natina Reed. Blaque officially reunited this fall and we were in the process of working on a new album and a reality show. Natina continuously embodied the pioneering spirit of Blaque and her undeniable creativity touched the hearts of fans everywhere.”

Williams also tweeted, “Last night the world was changed forever, life will never be the same…she was my sister.”
