Lindsay Lohan is warning her fans to be careful of searching her name on popular search engines. With the recent non-stop media coverage of Lilo’s sentencing and sober living stint, the starlet wants you to believe she is worried that her fans may fall victim to fraudulent information and scams.

Actually, she was approached by Norton, the anti-virus giant, to provide the spiel — no doubt in exchange for a negotiated fee. Her ‘tweets’ provided a link to the Symantec website that provides tips and tricks, and of course, lots of security software.

Her statement said: “I know I am very newsworthy, especially with everything going on and I’d hate to see my current situation cause frustration or damage to my fans. If my friends and fans want to know what’s going on with me, they need to stick to reliable news media outlets and not click on just any link in a search result. Better yet, please follow my Twitter feed and get the news straight from me.”

Lilo and her handlers have also been ‘tweeting’ for FashionBay.

Lindsay will surrender within the next 12 hours to begin serving her jail sentence.
