Former cyclist turned triathlete …

Lance Armstrong has been barred from participating in the Ironman France event slated for June 24 amid new doping allegations.

The seven-time Tour de France champion is furious after being disqualified from the upcoming race in Nice, France.

The 40-year-old cancer survivor released a statement: “I have never doped, and, unlike many of my accusers, I have competed as an endurance athlete for 25 years with no spike in performance, passed more than 500 drug tests and never failed one.”

Dismissing the newest claims as “baseless” and motivated by spite, he said emphatically, “Any fair consideration of these allegations has and will continue to vindicate me.”

Federal investigators ended a two-year investigation into the alleged doping but the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency won’t let up and recently filed the new charges. If found guilty he could be stripped of his victories.

Armstrong retired from cycling last year and is now competing in triathlons.

The athlete and his partner Anna Hansen have two children; Max and Olivia. He is also father to Luke, Isabelle and Grace, from his union with Kristin Richard Armstrong.
