Julianne Hough found out that the third time is not always the charm. She and partner Adam Carolla got the boot last night on the ABC hit show Dancing With the Stars. The 43 year old comic were eliminated during Tuesday night’s results show. Julianne had danced her previous two partners, Olympic skater Apolo Anton Ohno and race driver Helio Castroneves, to victory in Seasons 4 and 5.
Carolla made several long winded attempts at stand up comedy during the past few shows. Julianne looked uneasy and even told him to shut up at one point. Judge Len Goodman was kinder in his parting comments when he said:
You are such a lovable character that we just want you to do well, but unfortunately you’re not much of a dancer.”
Judges scores are combined with viewer votes to determine which couple is eliminated each week.
Carolla said he had the time of my life during his four weeks on the show:
I recommend this experience to anyone who’s scared of everything. You at home, there’s something that scares you. There’s something that’s your ‘Dancing With the Stars‘. Embrace it. Don’t run from it. I lost 25 pounds of fat and I gained 105 pounds of angel.”
Julianne wiped tears from her eyes. She never really had a chance this season to show her talent and get the fans behind her as she had been able to do during her two previous seasons. Many feel that Mel B. and Max would have won Season Five had it not been for Julianne’s wide audience appeal.
Hough has recently embarked on a country western singing career. She will sing the National Anthem at the 92nd Indianapolis 500 on May 25th. She will also perform songs from her country music album during pre-race ceremonies.
Julianne’s album will be released on May 20 and she will begin a national tour with singer Brad Paisley on June 11.
