Jodie Foster was honored last night at the Golden Globes as the recipient of the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille award bestowed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.

Looking fabulous in a dark blue gown and sleek bob, Jodie got emotional when she addressed her sons in the audience and offered up a poignant message to her mother, who suffers from dementia.

She said with tears in her eyes, “I love you, I love you, I love you, and I hope if I say this three times, it will magically and perfectly enter into your soul, fill you with grace and the joy of knowing that you did good in this life. You’re a great mom. Please take that with you when you’re finally OK to go.”

There were playful moments too when she let the audience in on a secret, “I guess I just have a sudden urge to say something that I’ve never really been able to air in public, a declaration that I’m a little nervous about … I’m Single! Yes I am, I’m kidding. I’m not really kidding, but kind of.”

Foster apologized to those who were hoping for a coming out admission, “I already did my coming out a thousand years ago in the stone age.”

The speech in its entirety was all over the board and will likely be dissected thoroughly by those trying the understand what makes Jodie tick after 47 years in show business. Check it out below:
