MTV has announced that the cast of their top-rated reality show, Jersey Shore, will be heading to Italy.
Season four of “Shore” begins filming in spring 2011, and while excited about traveling to the place of his roots, cast member Pauly D is a bit nervous.
“I don’t know what gyms are like over there, I don’t know what tanning’s like, I don’t know the food, and the language — I don’t even speak Italian. Maybe I should get a Rosetta Stone or something,” says Pauly.
“I have family in Italy, but I don’t speak with them since I don’t know the language. My mother still talks to them, though. I know Vinny has family there. But none of us have ever been. It’s gonna be fun,” he said in an interview.
The current season premiered to record-setting ratings earlier this month, and last Thursday’s episode was the most-watched series telecast ever on MTV, with 8.9 million viewers.
“While the Stateside ‘Jersey Shore’ locales have become iconic for our audience, it’s really the constantly evolving dynamic amongst the cast that keeps them coming back each season, and Europe is a fresh spin on a show that continues to reach new heights for us,” Chris Linn, MTV’s executive vice president of programming and head of production, said in a statement. “The cast is headed to the birthplace of the culture they love and live by. We can’t wait to see what erupts as a result.”
Neither can we, Chris. Neither can we.
