The Hollywood premiere of ‘Gangster Squad’ was held Monday night at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and featured the star-studded cast of the 40’s-50’s crime film.

Posing on the red carpet were co-stars Emma Stone, Josh Brolin, Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling with his mother.

Providing a red carpet sound bite was veteran actor Nick Nolte, 71, who had this to say about being famous, “It’s peculiar, to say the least. It’s not something to be desired. It really isn’t, but that won’t stop anybody. It’s a rough deal. It’s not a fun life.”

Check out a closeup of his decidedly reclusive premiere look:

It was Brolin’s first public appearance since his arrest for public intoxication last week. His wife Diane Lane was a solo act over the weekend at the high-profile Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala.

Warner Bros. Pictures originally set the release date of ‘Gangster Squad’ for Sept. 2012 but in the wake of the 2012 Aurora shootings, they bumped the date to January 11, 2013. Check out the trailer below:
