Erykah Badu debuted her single “Window Seat” amid a storm of controversy over the JFK assassination imagery and public nudity in the video.

Inspired by Matt & Kim’s Times Square striptease in “Lessons Learned,” Badu stripped down in Dealy Plaza – the Dallas landmark where JFK was shot. At the end of the video, a gunshot is heard and Badu falls to the ground fully nude within feet of where Kennedy was killed in 1963.

The 39-year-old singer said the video for “Window Seat” was a “protest” against “group think,” and “about liberating yourself.” In a voiceover in the closing seconds, Badu says “They play it safe, and are quick to assassinate what they don’t understand.”

Badu has taken to her Twitter page to discuss the video and answer fan questions.
