RIP DJ Megatron …
DJ Megatron was shot and killed early Sunday morning on a Staten Island street. The 32-year-old, born Corey McGriff, kept the BET 106 & Park audience hyped up during commercial breaks.
Corey, the father of three and recently engaged to the mother of his youngest, was headed to a neighborhood deli just a block down from his Staten Island home when his killer approached about 2 a.m. and fired a single shot into his torso, according to a police report.
McGriff had minor acting roles in hip hop movies State Property 2 and Killa Season. Prior to his BET gig, he worked his way up from intern to a role as sidekick of hip hop deejay Fatman Scoop at Hot 97.
Friends claim that he was on the brink of stardom. His former high school pal Mex Guevara said: “He always wanted to do radio and acting. He was definitely a dream-chaser.”
BET 106 & Park co-host Terrence J tweeted: “He touched so many people and was so good at his craft.”
