Rock band Deftones bass player Chi Cheng was involved in a car accident yesterday in Santa Clara, California. The band member is reported to be in stable but serious condition.
Frontman for the band, Chino Moreno left a message for their fans on their website saying;
“I am on my way up North right now to be by his side along with the rest of our band mates and family. Chi is one of the strongest people I know, and I’m praying that his strength will get him through this. Please say a prayer for him as well.”
The Deftones have been together since 1988 and have a new album to be released in early 2009. The groups home base is Sacramento. You may have heard their songs on the soundtrack to the movie The Crow: City of Angels.
Chi is currently being treated at San Jose Hospital and is in a coma. We wish Cheng and his family the best.
