As many expected, ‘Glee’ star Amber Riley and her pro partner Derek Hough won the ‘Dancing With the Stars’ season 17 championship during the second night of the final competition.
The popular couple scored a trio of 10’s for a perfect 30 score for their Fusion dance that combined a Samba and Quickstep to ‘Higher and Higher’ by Jackie Wilson.
Corbin Bleu faltered during his Cha-cha-cha and Foxtrot with pro Karina Smirnoff — setting for 9’s. An identical fate was in store for Jack Osbourne and Cheryl Burke for their Paso Doble-Salsa to the strains of ‘Sexy People.’
When their scores were combined with Monday night’s viewer votes — it was announced that Amber Riley finished the season in first place, followed in second place by Bleu and Osbourne in third.
It is pro Derek’s fifth championship. He last took the crown during season 16 with country singer Kellie Pickler.
The newly-crowned duo boarded a plane last night for New York City for a Wednesday morning ‘After Party’ on the ABC morning talk show ‘Good Morning America.’
Hough tweeted, “New York bound !!! Weather is really bad apparently. Gonna be a turbulent flight ! Fingers crossed.”
Riley gushed on social media, “THANK YOU! THANK YOOOOOOUUUUUU! I can’t believe it!!! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!”
