Miss USA 2013 contestant Marissa Powell, representing Utah, totally botched a question presented to her by judge NeNe Leakes.
The ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ celeb asked: “A recent report shows that in 40 percent of American families with children, women are the primary earners yet they continue to earn less than men. What does this say about society?”
Powell responded, “I think we can relate this back to education and how we are continuing to try to strive to — figure out how to create jobs right now. That is the biggest problem and, I think, especially the men are seen as the leaders of this, so we need to — create education better so we can solve this problem.”
All was not lost despite her epic fail. The Salt Lake City native was undoubtedly disappointed with her third runner up placement but she did win Miss Photogenic.
Anticipating a surge of requests for network interviews, Marissa’s Miss Utah 2013 Twitter page posted this message: “Please direct all media requests to utah@castingcrownsproduction.com. Congratulations to Marissa for placing…”
Pageant owner Donald Trump weighed in with this tweet, “Trending story on Miss Utah is very unfair. She simply lost her train of thought–could happen to anyone! @MissUSA @Miss Universe”
