Cyndi Lauper received a coveted Tony Award for Best Score of a Musical at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, one of six acolades given to the Broadway hit ‘Kinky Boots.’

Lauper, 59, demonstrated her creative genius as a first-time Broadway composer, penning the tunes that helped tell the story of a struggling shoemaker and his drag queen business partner.

Her musical scores earned rave reviews. One critic wrote in the New York Daily News, “Lauper’s multicolored, surprising and fun score outshined the fancy footwear and proved to be the real star of this show.”

She is set to launch a 23-date tour to commemorate the 30th anniversary of her breakthrough album ‘She’s So Unusual.’ She admits, “I’ve never really sung the whole album in concert, top to bottom, but I wanted to give something back to my fans.”

The album dropped in 1983 and was an instant commercial success. She earned four Top 5 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 charts — ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun,’ ‘Time After Time,’ ‘She Bop,’ and ‘All Through the Night.’
