Actor and film producer Johnny Depp is celebrating a milestone birthday on Sunday, June 9, when he turns the BIG 50.

The Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild award winner rose to prominence on the 1980’s television series ’21 Jump Street,’ quickly picking up teen idol status.
He turned to more challenging roles, earning acclaim for ‘Edward Scissorhands,’ ‘Sleepy Hollow,’ ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,’ ‘Alice in Wonderland,’ Rango,’ plus his involvement in the decade long film series ‘Pirates of the Caribbean.’
Depp was born in Kentucky and raised in Florida. He dropped out of high school to become a rock musician, playing with The Kids, a band that enjoyed modest local success.
He married the sister of his band’s bass player, Lori Anne Allison in 1983. They divorced two years later and he dated and got engaged to a series of actresses and models: Jennifer Grey, Sherilyn Fenn, Winona Ryder and Kate Moss.
In 1998 Johnny began a 14-year relationship with French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis that ended in 2012. They have two children: Lily-Rose, 13, and Jack, 10.
He is currently filming ‘Transcendence’ in Los Angeles, a science fiction thriller co-starring Rebecca Hall and Morgan Freeman. It is set to be released in theaters on April 18, 2014.
