It was a very good night for Ben Affleck at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards in Hollywood Sunday. He beat out a decidedly high-profile field of contenders to win Best Director for his blockbuster hit ‘Argo.’
In another stunning victory, ‘Argo’ beat out Steven Spielberg‘s much-touted ‘Lincoln’ as Best Drama.
Affleck was humbled by the honor, “I don’t care what the award is, when they put your name next to the names she just read off, it’s an incredible thing in your life.”
He heaped praise on his wife, who was ravishing in a red Vivienne Westwood gown, “She is the reason I am standing here. I adore you. I love you so much. You are my everything. Thank you.”
Unfortunately he was so rattled by the win that he forgot to thank ‘Argo’ producers George Clooney and Grant Heslov, who handpicked him to be director.
That was quickly remedied when Jennifer Garner took the stage to present the award for Best Actor in a Comedy. She confessed that her husband asked her to personally thank the two men. Clooney later joked, “I can’t tell you how proud we are to have worked with him and how much I hate him.”
