This morning Nick Cannon abruptly left his morning radio show 92.3 NOW after reportedly receiving an emergency phone call from his wife Mariah Carey.
A post on the radio station’s Twitter page read, “So Nick Cannon just ran out the door after getting a call from Mariah. This could be the BIG DAY!!!”
Cannon’s co-host Nikki Hesse tweeted: “We just spoke to him on the phone. He’s going to the airport right now because she’s in L.A. Confirming news from Nick Cannon…It’s time!! He’s on the way to the airport. He is keeping us updated throughout the rest of the show. Stay tuned for an update.”
News spread quickly and MTV, Perez Hilton and numerous other media outlets began reporting the story.
The father-to-be finally fessed up about the stunt on Twitter : “Just pulled the best April Fools’ prank on my radio show 92.3 Now FM. Got to take most of the morning off! LOL Sorry… April Fools.”
Hesse responded with a final tweet: “Nick Cannon – war is on! Not cool! April Fools on me!! How the heck you gonna prank us like that? I really believed MC was in labor!”
