Do as I say, not as I do …

This is classic! The Clark County deputy district attorney who prosecuted Paris Hilton and singer Bruno Mars for drugs, has been busted for procuring some for himself. Late Saturday afternoon David Charles Schubert was arrested and booked for buying and possessing cocaine.

Schubert picked up a man and drove him to an area known for narcotics sales. He allegedly gave his passenger money to buy drugs and dropped him off to score crack cocaine from a street dealer near Desert Inn Road and Maryland Parkway.

Police officer watched from a vantage point not far away, and witnessed the passenger get back into Schubert’s BMW. Officers moved in quickly to apprehend the deputy district attorney. He was taken into custody at 4:51 p.m. and transported to the Clark County Detention Center.

The passenger, Raymond Streeter, 43, fled on foot but was caught a short time later. He told police that he had been buying $40 worth of cocaine three of four times a week for Schubert over the past six or seven months.

The chief deputy D.A. is a member of the Las Vegas federal drug task force. His boss, District Attorney David Rogers, was notified immediately and worked with detectives to get blood samples and secure warrants to search Schubert’s two Vegas homes.

Rogers said: “It’s disheartening to know the individual who I assigned to prosecute high-level drug cases is allegedly using rock cocaine. His future is bleak with the district attorney’s office.”

The official charges are conspiracy to violate uniform controlled substance laws and possession of cocaine. In the state of Nevada, those charges constitute a felony. We’re guessing he already knew that.

A search of the suspect’s BMW revealed the drugs on the passenger’s side floorboard, and a semi-automatic handgun, four magazines with 47 bullets and two boxes of 9 mm bullets.
