One big happy family ?

Billy Ray Cyrus recently told People magazine that he was doing everything he could to reunite his family. He took a major step this week by dropping the divorce petition that he filed against his wife Tish Cyrus in October 2010.

He abruptly filed for divorce last fall after coming to the conclusion that his wife of 17 years had been carrying on an extra-marital affair with rocker Bret Michaels.

The achy-breaky country singer recently found himself in hot water with daughter Miley Cyrus as well, after he got loose-lipped during a GQ interview and trashed the pop star’s lifestyle.

He blamed Hannah Montana for “destroying my family” and was critical of the people who are a part of his daughter’s inner-circle, fearing she was “in a great deal of danger.”

After a public tongue-lashing by his outraged teenager, a clearly desperate Papa Cyrus was able to throw himself on the mercy of his family, mending fences with his wife and his 18-year-old celebrity offspring.

Billy Ray will make a guest appearance Friday on The View. During the segment, filmed earlier this week, he told the ladies: “I’ve dropped the divorce. I want to put my family back together … Things are the best they’ve ever been. I feel like I got my Miley back.”
