RIP Nate Dogg 1969-2011
West Coast rapper Nate Dogg died last night in Long Beach, California after battling health issues for several years.
The Long Beach native, born Nathaniel Dwayne Hale, suffered multiple strokes in late 2007 and in the fall of 2008 that paralyzed the left side of his body. A cause of death has not yet been determined.
Recently fellow West Coast rapper Warren G tweeted about his friend’s condition: “For those that don’t know, awhile back Nate had 2 strokes. He is in therapy. Thanks again for your support.”
Once the news spread of Nate’s death, Snoop Dogg also tweeted their thoughts and condolences: “We lost a true legend in hip hop and R&B, one of my best friends and a brother to me since 1986 when I was a sophomore at poly high where we met.”
Nate Dogg is most famously known for his collaborations with artists Eminem, Dr. Dre, Ludacris, Tupac Shakur and Warren G. He was also a founding member of the hip-hop group 213 – a rap trio with Snoop and Warren G that began in Long Beach in the early 1990s..
After hearing of his death, singer Erykah Badu gave the rapper a proper send-off by tweeting: “Nate Dogg… freshness period. Rest in beats.”
Rapper Ludacris said on Twitter: “There is a certain void in hip hop’s heart that can never be filled. Glad we got to make history together.”
Warren G recently spoke about Nate Dogg’s medical condition. Check it out on video below – followed by a Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg collaboration:
