Super Bowl hairy match up

When Super Bowl XLV kicks off at Cowboys Stadium on Sunday night, it will be more than a battle between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. It could well be dubbed the ‘Hair Games’ of 2011.

Two opposing players, Troy Polamalu and Clay Matthews, have gotten a lot of media attention for their football prowess and their long signature locks of HAIR.

Strong safety Polamalu, 29, was named the AP Defensive Player of the Year with 17 votes, beating out Packers linebacker Matthews — who received 15 votes.

The Samoan’s #43 Steelers jersey is currently the top seller among men and women according to NFLShop.com. His famous mane of wavy dark hair is insured by sponsor Head and Shoulders for a reported $1 million – more photos here.

Matthews, 24, is the third generation of NFL players in his family — gaining him the nickname Bloodline. His long blonde hair has women swooning.

Stay tuned while these two modern-day Samson’s take the field tomorrow to vie for top bragging rights.
