One of Hollywood’s most famous plastic surgeons, Dr. Frank Ryan, was killed in a car crash yesterday. His Jeep went over the side of Pacific Coast Highway around 4:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon.
Ryan’s vehicle landed on rocks. Nearby lifeguards tried to aid the victim but were unable to save him. The 50-year-old was trapped in the vehicle and suffered massive head injuries.
The Ventura County Fire Department brought in a helicopter in a rescue attempt but called off the efforts. The doctor was pronounced dead at the scene.
Just before the fatal crash Ryan ‘tweeted’, “After 25 years of driving by, I finally hiked to the top of the giant sand dune west of Malibu. Much harder than it looks! WHEW!”
He followed that by posting a picture with his final ‘tweet’: “Border collie Jill surveying the view from atop the sand dune.” According to law enforcement officials, the dog was injured but survived the crash – see photo below.
Ryan was responsible for many celebrity makeover surgeries including work done on: Heidi Montag, Gene Simmons, Adrianne Curry, Shauna Sands, and Vince Neil. He also appeared frequently on television, even performing surgery on TLC’s The Operation.
Particularly distraught is reality star Janice Dickinson, who got an Angelina Jolie makeover by Dr. Ryan. She issued the following statement through her rep: “He was a friend and my love goes out to his mother and the rest of the family.”
Montag, who had a marathon session of enhancements done by the good doctor, ‘tweeted’: “I am devastated. He was an angel and changed my life. He was the most brilliant surgeon who will ever exist. Dr. Frank Ryan changed the world.”
