American Idol Season 7 Audition Line, Atlanta, GA

You may have noticed my posts have been sporadic the past couple of days (all three of my regular readers). I have been traveling and standing in an endless line for my daughter’s opportunity to audition for American Idol.

We arrrived in Atlanta at 4am, having been (wrongly) informed on the American Idol website that there would be ABSOLUTELY NO OVERNIGHT CAMPING AND NO LINING UP BEFORE 6AM. Our intention was to drive around and orient ourselves, find out where the line would be forming at the Georgia Dome, find parking, grab a bite to eat, get bottled water, snacks, etc.

As we drove up Georgia Dome Drive, those plans were immediately replaced with plan B – find parking immediately and make a dash for the line, which we learned later, had started forming around midnight.

I feel bad for the folks who showed up at 6am. By that time the line was already looped all the way around the very large building. With temperatures that had been hovering over 100 degrees the past few days, we were dreading sunrise.

I won’t bore you with all the details, but the line went quickly for us once the doors opened. We have our wristbands on, with instructions not to tamper with them or get them wet. We are to return on Tuesday morning between 5am and 6am, stand in line again until the doors open at 8am, wait for her opportunity to audition for the producers, and if when she makes it through that, return in October to audition for Simon, Paula and Randy.

I won’t be doing any more posts about the auditions or whether or not she makes it through to the next round. If she makes it to Hollywood, I will resume writing about it once season 7 begins.

Right now I’m going to take a much needed nap. My posts will become more regular once we return home, so please come back soon. 🙂
