Six-year-old Falcon Heene, who has been catapulted into the national spotlight after it was feared he floated away in a homemade flying saucer, seems to be having a bit of trouble with the media attention.
Falcon has said he hid in the attic of his family home on Thursday after the balloon floated away, because his dad, Richard Heene, had yelled at him earlier. During interviews Friday morning on ABC’s Good Morning America, and NBC’s Today Show, the boy threw up when questions came up about why he said he was hiding because his dad said it was “for a show,” during an interview with Wolf Blitzer last night on Larry King Live, leading to speculation that the stunt was an elaborate hoax planned by the family.
Falcon was led off camera during the GMA interview, when he said, “Mom, I feel like I’m going to vomit,” after the question was raised. He could then be heard gagging.
During the Today Show interview, the boy vomited on camera as his father was asked the same question.
Although Richard Heene strongly denies the incident was a hoax, and authorities seem to believe his story, it is hard not to question Falcon’s response, and even harder not to question why he would become physically ill when the subject of his hiding “for a show” comes up. Could dad — who is known for his erratic rants on previous reality shows, including two stints on “Wife Swap,” be threatening the boy in some way? Falcon is clearly afraid of his father’s scoldings.
It will be interesting to see how this story plays out. A meeting is planned with investigators today to see if the case warrants deeper probing.
