Actress Angelina Jolie is no stranger to adoption or the process that goes along with it. Jolie and her partner Brad Pitt are the parents of three adopted children: Maddox, 8, Pax, 6, and Zahara, 5, in addition to three biological children. The star is concerned about the current state of adoption in Haiti and offered up a warning to families looking to bring these abandoned children into their homes.

Angelina traveled to Haiti earlier this month to visit some of the injured children as part of her role as United Nations Goodwill Ambassador. Weighing in on the adoption of homeless children from Haiti – she said, “An emergency is not the time for new adoptions in any way. Child trafficking has been a huge problem for a very long time. Everybody that means well needs to really take that very seriously.”

Jolie knows how it feels to want to help out in any way possible, “As an adoptive parent, I understand the urge to assist in that way. But people need to not get frustrated but really work with the country.”
