Former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton were in Haiti earlier this week to review progress being made in the earthquake-ravaged region and remind the American people there is still suffering and work to be done. All was going well until a bizarre moment was captured on video.
Bill was getting into ‘meet and greet’ mode so Bush followed suit, extending his hand for one handshake, and then promptly wiping his palm on the back of Clinton’s shirt.
The gesture has been interpreted by some as a reflex action to get rid of perspiration or germs. Others viewed it as an attempt to rein in Bill to end the walk about.
