Actor Eric Roberts is the latest celebrity to join the cast of Celebrity Rehab. Wanting to be rid of his addiction demons, Eric is reportedly looking to Dr. Drew for help.
Roberts publicist Chuck Jones spoke with WENN and said, “It’s not for anything serious. He’s not hooked on prescription med’s or hard drugs or anything like that.” Oh boy, sounds like there is some enabling going on.
Eric is working on a new film “Rock Slyde”, with co-star Andy Dick. A spokesperson for the movie said, “It’s ironic that Eric is going through the same Celebrity Rehab experience as Andy Dick. They certainly never bonded on the set or chatted about anything like this. It’s a complete surprise. No one knew Eric had a problem.”
There have been past issues for Eric with cocaine and marijuana. He was arrested back in 1987 for possession. His coke addiction lasted into the 90’s.
Eric is the father of young actress Emma Roberts and the brother of mega star Julia Roberts. The siblings were estranged for many years because of his addiction. Julia fought for custody of Emma during the worst of his downward spiral but they reconciled after Julia gave birth to her twins.
Filming started earlier this week on the latest installment of Celebrity Rehab. Other celebrities who have signed on include Rachel Uchitel, Lief Garret, Janice Dickinson, and Jeremy London.
