Television personality and best-selling cookbook author Rachael Ray has launched a new iPhone application called Tasty Bytes. The “Yum-o!” celeb launched the new food shopping app on Monday.

Developed for convenience while in the grocery store, the application contains 200 recipes and a shopping function that tallies ingredients and amounts into one list.

Rachael said: “When I head to the grocery store, I know what meals I want to make for the week . Sometimes I bring my own cookbook to the market and feel silly. I figured why not create a recipe database that was portable and mobile, so I could provide a simple way to search through tons of recipes and be able to shop for ingredients in the fastest way possible.”

The recipe database, which includes 30 recipes exclusive to the app, is searchable by meal type, cooking style, ingredients, and holidays. It allows the consumer to work backwards as well to find a recipe – simply by choosing ingredients you are hungry for or have on hand.

The Tasty Bytes app was developed by Threshold Interactive in Culver City, Calif., and is available for $1.99.
