Jesse Ventura filed a lawsuit on Monday against the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security, claiming he was sexually assaulted at an airport TSA checkpoint.
The former pro wrestler and single-term governor of Minnesota has submitted documents to the U.S. District Court for Minnesota, accusing the agencies of violating his “rights under the Fourth Amendment to the Unites States Constitution to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures.”
His attorney Daniel Olsen was quick to point out that it isn’t about money. “He’s not seeking any monetary damages, he doesn’t want to get rich through this lawsuit. In fact, he could be financially harmed, if anything.”
Jesse the Body, 59, had hip-replacement surgery and now carries around a titanium implant. He routinely sets off metal detectors, and is then required to submit to full body searches or three-dimensional full body scans.
According to the lawsuit: “Despite Governor Ventura’s status as a frequent flyer, a veteran of the U.S. Military and having been the State of Minnesota’s highest elected official, and despite his easily verifiable medical condition, TSA did not give him the option of submitting to less intrusive security measures.”
The legal filing called the body scans “demeaning and degrading and tantamount to a warrantless nonsuspicions-based, electronically recorded strip search — meeting the definition of unlawful video voyeurism.”
Ventura, a member of the Independence Party of Minnesota, is a popular guest speaker and has written several books — including his most recent American Conspiracies.
