Groundhog Day 2011 …
Punxsutawney Phil made his 125th annual weather forecast on Groundhog Day 2011 and it was good news indeed. He did not see his shadow — only the 16th such occurrence since 1887.
It will be an early spring! This news was well received by the gathered throng of Pennsylvanians who braved icy conditions in order to attend the time honored event.
Mike Johnson, vice president of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club’s Inner Circle said: “The Steelers are going to the Super Bowl.” The partisan crowd cheered wildly despite the fact that their host stopped short of predicting a win.
